Different geological materials conduct electrical current differently. Resistivity data can support interpretation of weathered formations, fractured rock, contacts, faults and possible water bearing structures. Conductivity alone is not proof of groundwater.
VES measurements are taken at increasing electrode spacing to investigate deeper geological conditions and build an interpreted model of subsurface layers.
